Fallout 76 – A Disappointment

Nigel Cooper, Staff Writer

I can’t put into words how disappointed I am with Bethesda Inc. I’ve tried to find something good about this Triple-A garbage fire to say, but I always revert back to how badly this game failed to meet expectations. It’s hard to believe that with the amount of time Bethesda was given to make this a functional game, we got this. You can barely breathe in this game without some kind of functional error popping up. Firefights turn into clunky shooting galleries and just simply traversing the wasteland makes this game a glitchy, risky mess. Emphasis on risky because if you die, you can’t just simply respawn. You must spawn all the way back to Vault 76. Need I remind you that the map of Fallout 76 is 4 times larger than that of any of their previous Fallouts. That means you have to spawn a mile and a half (or more) from your death location, jog all the way there while dodging enemies and glitching out, and risk dying again from what killed you. Seems fun right? Whenever I died, 9 times out of 10, I’d just quit the game. It just wasn’t worth my time. Just do your wallet a favor and don’t get this game.

P.S. – A day before I was about to post this article, news was revealed that data miners have discovered evidence of loot boxes. If you’ve been in the gaming community since 2014, you’d understand the importance of this. Loot boxes will be the final nail in the coffin for this game. Loot boxes implement a pay-to-win element that destroys any essence of an honest game. I know Bethesda can’t see this so it’s useless to say anything. If you love the Fallout franchise, I think it’s time to let it go.
