Seniors Pay to Paint

Abby Wheeler, Submitted Story

For the first time in the history of Seymour High School the senior class was allowed to paint their reserved parking spot. The spots cost 30 dollars to reserve and designs had to be pre-approved by the administration. The 30 dollars that students had to pay was donated to the SHS Dance Marathon for Riley Children’s Hospital. Students could paint their spots from 1-7 on September 4. A cookout was held at 7:30 after the painting.

53 students participated in the event, with designs ranging from superheroes to mantras to simply putting names on the spot. However, this event was not limited to only seniors. Several students brought their families and friends to help with the decoration. A DJ contributed to the atmosphere by providing music for the students, and coolers were kept with water and other drinks.

Senior Kelsey Baker painted her spot with the words, “Love all people”. A positive message, that she believes describes herself. Baker stated, “I had a really good time painting my spot, everyone was in a really good mood and was having a great time.”
