Álgebra es una clase en español que es tomada por la Sra.Thormaehlen en la escuela preparatoria de Seymour en el salón 308. Esta clase es para los estudiantes latinos para que ellos puedan entender más la clase en su propio idioma.

De acuerdo con la Sra. Thormaehlen, maestra de álgebra. “Yo enseño álgebra I y pre-álgebra a los estudiantes que hablan español. Tengo 60 estudiantes. Nunca esperé enseñar una clase en español. Mi español está mejorando gracias a mis estudiantes y los traductores. Quiero mucho a mis estudiantes y sé que es difícil para ellos que estén en otro país aprendiendo otro idioma y algunos de ellos incluso sin sus padres, y el hecho de que estén aquí es muy valiente.

De acuerdo con Juan Nieves estudiante de Álgebra. “ Me gusta la idea de que hay clases para nosotros los estudiantes Latinos. Si, le entiendo mejor a la materia y he mejorado mucho mi calificación. La maestra siempre sigue mejorando en el idioma de espanol y le agradezco que tenga paciencia conmigo, y también  el hecho de que  se arriesgara a aprender un nuevo idioma por nosotros sus estudiantes. Me gusta mucho esta clase y me siento cómodo.”

Álgebra es una de las muchas clases que benefician y ayudan a los estudiantes latinos a comprender más sobre la materia. La escuela secundaria de Seymour ha tenido más estudiantes latinos este año, y este tipo de clases están ayudando mucho a los estudiantes latinos. La idea de este tipo de clase es que los estudiantes latinos se sientan apoyados y que con suerte, no necesiten ayuda con el idioma cuando terminaron la escuela secundaria.

Algebra I is a class in Spanish taught by Ms.Tormoehlen at Seymour High School in Room 308. This class has 60 latino students and is one of the classes that benefit the latino student. This class helps students in the subject by offering it in Spanish. It is supposed to help students to get a better grade and understand more the subject of Algebra I.    

According to Ms. Tormoehlen, “I teach Algebra I and Pre-Algebra to  students that speak Spanish. I never expected to teach a class in Spanish. My Spanish is getting better thanks to my students and to translators. I love my students, and I know that it is difficult to them be here in another country, some of them even without their families, and  taking classes in another language is very brave.”

According to Juan Nieves an Algebra student. “I like the idea that there are classes for us Latino students. I understand the subject better, and I have greatly improved my grades. The teacher always continues get better in the language of Spanish so we can understand her more. Thank you, Ms. Tormoehlen, for having patience with me, and also the fact that you get the risk to take a class in a different language for us your students. I really like this class and I feel comfortable. “

Algebra is one of many classes that  benefit and help the Latino student to understand more of the subject. Seymour High School has more Latino students this year, and this type of class is helping Latino students a lot. The idea of this type of class is that the Latino students  feel supported and hopefully don’t need help with the  language when they finished high school.
