2050: You just found out that you and your family have to leave the only place you have ever called home because of global warming. The rising temperature is making it impossible to survive; it hasn’t rained in over two months, and your area is going through a very high food shortage. Everyone is leaving your small town even though they don’t want to. You don’t even know where to go because the whole world is struggling with different effects. What if you go somewhere and you have to leave again? The ocean is taking over the streets of New York. Everywhere is going through higher temperatures than ever. Many species have been extinct for years now. The world you once knew is falling apart.
It’s sad to say but this is what’s going to happen if we don’t try to make changes. With the population going up across the world, the health of Earth is decreasing. Global Warming, Climate Change, and the Greenhouse Effect are taking over. If we don’t do anything today, our future family won’t know Earth like we do. If we don’t do anything today, the little babies and toddlers today will have to deal with it at the worst. We are the ones that caused this; it’s our job to fix it.
How can we help our planet? There are some pretty easy ways to help: using reusable water bottles and bags, recycling, donating to stores like Goodwill, shopping at farmers’ markets, cutting the amount of paper you use, turning off lights and water when you’re done using them, and riding bikes when it’s an option. You can also plant trees. Even just one tree helps reduce Climate Change by taking the greenhouse gasses out of the atmosphere. There are so many ways to help the planet by just adding simple tasks into your daily routine.
Some of the life-changing events I listed in the first paragraph are happening to people today around the world. Their home is becoming not a safe and healthy place to live. We might not see it happen right away. However, it is and we can help slow it down. Big companies are starting to see that they can help too. Ford and Mercedes agreed to sell zero-emission cars by 2040. It’s not to take away the joys that we need and love. However, it’s a way to make our world bigger and better. Let’s work together to help save the place we call home!
