Vivienne Siefker ran on October 21st at IHSAA cross country Regionals which qualified her for the IHSAA Girls’ Cross Country State meet. Though it was not guaranteed, Siefker believed that she had a good chance to advance as an individual according to the rankings.
Siefker knew that “ I had so many people by my side pushing me to accomplish my goal, from my teammates to my coaches, friends, and my family.” Siefker ended up placing 24th overall but qualified by being the 14th individual with a time of 20:03.
The Indiana Cross Country State race will be held at Indiana State Athletic Club in Terre Haute. Siefker plans on “looking at the course Friday afternoon to look at tangents and any placements on the course where I can drop time and gain placings.”
Siefker isn’t as nervous for State as she was for Regionals since she already qualified, and “now all is left is just throwing down a good final race.”
Siefker plans on running in college but has still not decided where. She is “very excited to see what team I end up with to carry out the rest of my running career.”
Today, SHS honored this accomplishment with its traditional walk through the halls where Viv and her coaches were led by the SMOG percussion ensemble. Run your best race, Viv. We are very proud of you. Owls Will!
