Did you know that students help in the library? Students take a period out of their day to help around the Media Center and building. They do anything from putting books back on shelves to running errands for Mrs. Prange. They do a lot behind the scenes that people don’t realize.
They all love their time working in the library helping in different ways. Lauren Brown enjoys “Helping people find books [and] checking books in.” Caroline Dennis loves “Seeing everyone come in” when she is helping. Marcela Diego enjoys the quiet time to get some extra reading time in. Dorismar Ortiz shares, “I enjoy working in the library because it’s a safe space for everyone. You get to help others, you also get some time to read, and the librarians are awesome.”
They help check in returned books, organize the bookshelf, help English classes that come for their visits, and do anything Mrs. Prange needs. They can also help you find the perfect book for whatever you are interested in. Some of their recommendations are The Inheritance Games series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, XOXO by Axie OH, and Alan Gratz books.
Students can sign up with Mrs. Prange when they are interested. She will look at your grades without a study hall. She will see where she has an opening with your study hall period. Only hardworking and motivated students who truly want to help others will be accepted.
Make sure to thank Marcela Diego, Dorismar Ortiz, Caroline Dennis, Jed Findley, Ashley Paredes, Lauren Brown, Rudy Vicente, and Makenna Greenawalt for everything they do for the library!
