With the newest additions to SHS this year comes a new class run by English teacher Mrs. Bartsch that she refers to as, “The Money Class”. The first ever etymology class at SHS has enjoyed their time and learned many things about that class that would be beneficial for future students.
For one, many students within the class are a part of an after-school activity and say this class is a good fit for those with less time on their hands. As well as this, the pacing of the class is on a steady beat as long as you stay on topic and get your work done within the given days. The set up of the class goes as follows: The Intro day where you get your new set of words that need to be written down on flash cards and a study sheet, a work day when you choose what assignment you want and work on it for the entire class period, and test day where you finally test your knowledge on each word and afterwards a new set of words to learn.
Etymology is called “The Money Class” by Mrs.Bartsch for her belief that being able to know more words, their roots, and their meanings will help you in the long run by being able to help on SAT’s, interviews, and college. Her love for the class is shown by the way she teaches and helps her students. One thing she says she doesn’t love though is “frizzes” from the edge of notebook paper.
The first semester class has gone well for a brand new class, and with a strong selection of students. Now, the second semester of students have joined and are learning about etymology. With that in mind, the first semester students want to tell future students to try their best, get their assignments done, and to have plenty of note cards for studying.
