On Saturday, February 3, the SHS Lady Owls’ Swimming and Diving participated in sectionals at Floyd Central. They placed second with 327 points beating 13 other schools and only falling short to Floyd Central who ended up with 493 points. They finished their dual meet season with a record of 14-2-1. Unfortunately, no one made it to state, but there were still some great performances as everyone swam 100% of their lifetime best. The top eight finishers were Addy Castetter, Carmyn Wilson, Ally Bryant, Lilly Simons, Maggie Calhoun, Amber Ault, Avery Miller, Makenna Greenawalt, and Sydney Bush. Makenna Greenawalt had the best individual finish with third in breaststroke.
In the 200 Medley, swimmers Lauren Bode, Makenna Greenawalt, Addyson Castetter, and Allison Bryant placed third with a time of 1:58.65. Allison Bryant was also part of the 200 Freestyle Relay with Lillian Simons, Laney Reinhart, and Carmyn Wilson that placed third with a time of 1:45:63. Carmyn Wilson then went on to finish 4th in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 25.94, and she also swam in the 400 Freestyle Relay with Sallie Nicholson, Kylie Grove, and Castetter who finished with a time of 3:55.96.

Maggie Calhoun, who had never dived before this season, finished 5th in 1-meter diving. Before the season started, she knew only 5 dives, and for sectionals, she needed to know 11.
