The WNBA Draft took place on April 15th and drew in more viewership than ever before. To say this season of women´s college basketball was record-breaking would simply be an understatement. Specifically, this was the first season that the women´s championship game acquired more viewers than the men´s, 4 million more to be exact. Although the Iowa Hawkeyes came out on the bottom, Caitlin Clark has been accredited with a big piece of this success for the sport.
The first pick of the draft came with the Indiana Fever, and just as expected they took Iowa Hawkeyes guard, Caitlin Clark. Clark averaged 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists per game. Just 22 hours after being drafted, she has already been favored to win MVP in the upcoming season. Clark was more than happy to join the Fever, saying after the final game, ¨I was hoping that Indiana got the first pick. It would have made my life a lot better, so when I saw that I was pretty excited.¨ She has been revolutionary to this sport and is bringing attention on a national level. The Fever is expected to nationally air 36 out of 40 games, a heavy increase than before.
