With the new Seymour High School Football season kicking off, let’s take a look at their schedule:
The Owls’ Football Schedule:
8/23/24 Seymour @ Greenwood Community HS 7:00 pm
8/30/24 Jeffersonville HS @ Seymour
9/6/24 Seymour @ Columbus East HS
9/13/24 Floyd Central HS @ Seymour
9/20/24 Seymour @ Bedford North Lawrence HS
9/27/24 Seymour @ Brownstown Central HS
10/4/24 Jennings County HS @ Seymour
10/11/24 Seymour @ New Albany HS
10/18/24 Bloomington South HS @ Seymour
The Owls have a lot to live up to from their successful 2023-2024 6-5 record. Losing key stars, Jack Pennington and Bret Perry, Coach Tyson Moore will have to think about replacements. Starting linebacker, Noah Broughton said, “I believe we have a better team and believe we can win.” Our football team has always excelled at using many passing plays to be successful, with Quarterback Bret Perry breaking the school’s record in passing yards last season. However, we have more diverse players this year to be more effective in getting those short yards on running plays. Traysean Hawkins showed much potential in the scrimmage against Silver Creek HS on August 16th. The whole team excelled and outshined the Dragons showing a strong start.
The Owls have some tough opponents such as Greenwood which they lost 51-49, Bedford North Lawrence 36-28, and Bloomington South which was the biggest threat which they lost 47-0 in the regular season. With the Owls’ first game on August 23rd at Greenwood Community High School at 7:00 PM they have a fire in their eyes and want to redeem themselves from last year. I asked star player Jaylan Johnson what he thought about the season and the team going forward and he said, “I believe this season will be amazing, a lot of team chemistry, a lot of talent and I believe this season will be a great one.” There are high hopes for the Owls going forward.
The Seymour community has always been an integral part of our sports and brings us together to watch the owls we love to see compete and show how hard they have worked for this moment. With every student, teacher, parent, or sibling this is what makes high school football fun, so let’s go Owls. Show the community what you’re made of.
