Richard Goodall was just an average middle school janitor from a small town in Indiana until he auditioned for America’s Got Talent. Richard sang a shocking and enthusiastic version of Journey’s international hit “Don’t Stop Believin.” Richard’s audition went viral on social media, and he gained a national following throughout his journey in the competition. The audition was so moving and shocking that he received the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum, and it immediately advanced him to the next round.
Richard continued to amaze every week, and his following became bigger. He sang his way through each round, covering artists such as Michael Bolton, Survivor, and other songs from Journey. By the end of the competition, Richard achieved another dream of being able to perform with members of his dream band, Journey. At the end of the night, Richard was named the AGT Season 26 winner, and winner of one million dollars. He beat many incredible acts such as quick change act Solange Kardinaly, dog dance act Roni and Rhythm, and a variety of others.
While this is a dream come true for Richard, and he could not be more happy, he returned this week to open arms to his janitor position at West Vigo Middle School in Terra Haute.
