The high school soccer season is almost over, and we are getting ready for sectionals. The Owls are currently 11-5 on the season and will be looking to continue their winning ways. Now, let’s get into their sectional draw.
Even though I don’t agree with how the sectionals are decided, the Owls finally got a good draw. The Owls will play the New Albany Bulldogs for a chance to move onto the championship for the first time since 2022. The Bulldogs have a 7-6-3 record on the season, and one of those losses came via the Owls.
The Owls have a chance to do something they haven’t done in a while; win 12 games in a season. The Owls haven’t won 12 games since the 2018-19 season, and with a win against New Albany, they would achieve that feat.
New Albany is a tough team that plays a lot of close games. In their lone matchup earlier this year, the Owls merely defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1. Senior Kayden Cox and junior Markenson Paul scored both of the goals in that game.
If Seymour defeats New Albany in the first round they will play one of four teams including, Floyd Central, Jennings County, Jeffersonville, and Bedford North Lawrence. The Owls have been playing great lately, and are currently on a five-game winning streak.
The Owls will play the New Albany Bulldogs @ Jennings County High School on Wednesday, October 9th at 9 PM.
Let’s Go Owls.
