Oktoberfest is a unique experience for the newspaper staff, a time to come together with friends and family to enjoy the rides, delicious food, and music. Here are the highlights from the Oktoberfest celebration this year:
Kelan Yates: I attended Oktoberfest every day! I enjoyed a variety of activities, food, and time with friends. The food was costly but on the bright side, it was good. For the most part, it was manageable in the aspect of the population. However, Saturday night seemed more crowded than ever. I spent tons of money. The Oktoberfest also had many opportunities for me to dive in and search around the local downtown businesses. Overall, the Oktoberfest 2024 was a great time, and it was great to see a small town come together.
Landon Jones: The food was great, especially the Firefighters’ Tenderloin. The bands that played all three nights were amazing, whether it was Rock or German. I also helped set up and volunteer at an event called “Oksoberfest”, which was made for people in recovery or who wanted to see what recovery looks like and hear people’s stories of how they battled their addiction.
Jack Broughton: The environment really stood out to me, it felt like I was back at Disney World. One of the best things I got from Oktoberfest, that hit the taste buds, was the apple dumplings. Something about ice cream on a warm apple pie hits the spot. The rides were also on the list of fun, having the unlimited pass to ride whatever I wanted was a daredevil dream.
Bethany Kriete: The funnel cake and strawberry bubble tea were the best items I had at Oktoberfest. In addition, to trying the drinks and food, I rode rides and gave my friends money for games. Sadly, they won nothing.
Lila Garrity: My favorite part of the Oktoberfest this year was the parade. My little sister, Nora, is a cheerleader for the Seymour Middle School. I enjoy seeing her and her friends cheer through the parade. I also enjoyed seeing local businesses’creativity with their floats. It was a great experience!
Dayton Smith: I believe the community around Oktoberfest was on full display this year, I saw numerous different groups throughout Seymour being celebrated and displayed. The food vendors were great this year, and I appreciated the diverse selection. I didn’t ride any rides, but I still had a great time hanging out with friends that I don’t see very often.
Brady Terrell: The noodles with teriyaki chicken were good and the funnel cake was a perfect dessert. I also made basketball shots and won a stuffed animal for a random kid.
Dylan Jimenez: Most of my friends and I enjoyed the food, especially the tenderloin tips and the bourbon chicken and rice. My friend Leo enjoyed his Pepsi, which is the only thing he’s allowed to have due to severe allergies. We didn’t ride any rides or play any games, but we did go to the football game afterward and had a great time.
