As we pass the middle of the NFL 2024 season, several new players to the game have stood out. From wide receivers to quarterbacks, many have made a difference in the 2024 season. While many of these rookies are showing out for their teams, only one can win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. In this article, we will look at the odds for each player.
We start with the leader of the offense and the man under center, the quarterback. In total, 4 quarterbacks have excluded themself from the rest, and have pushed their way to an exceptional start to their rookie year. Caleb Williams, the number one pick for the Chicago Bears has tried his best to transform his team into a Super Bowl Contender. However, that unfortunately has not been the case. The Bears went 7-10 last year and earned the first pick in a trade with Carolina. This year, the Bears are 4-6 and currently on a 4-game losing streak. Williams has thrown for slightly over 2 thousand yards, with 9 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. According to Draft Kings, Williams has a positive 4000 chance to win the award.
The second pick of the draft, Jayden Daniels has been anything but a disappointment for the Washington Commanders. In 2023, the Commanders went 4-13 with an offense led by quarterback, Sam Howell. Daniels came in as the 2023 Heisman Trophy Winner from LSU. So far as the new man under center, Daniels has led the Commanders to a 7-4 season, which is a complete turnaround from last season. The Commanders are on their way to a playoff berth and even have the possibility of a deep playoff run. Daniels has thrown for 2,338 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. Not only has Daniels delivered a stellar performance, but he has won 7/10 Pepsi Rookie of the Week Awards. According to Draft Kings, and a majority of other sports-betting sites, Daniels is favored to win with odds around negative 500.
Speaking of rookies who have delivered just the way they were expected, we now take a peek at the twelfth pick of the draft, by the Denver Broncos, Bo Nix. Bo Nix is a quarterback who seemingly fits perfectly into his offense, led by Sean Payton. Last season for the Broncos had high expectations but ultimately was filled with disappointment. The offense was led by SuperBowl champ Russell Wilson, however, he seemingly could not connect on anything. Wilson was sent to the Steelers, and the Broncos settled for rookie Bo Nix. Nix has led the Broncos from an 8-9 record for the 2023 season to a 6-5 record. While the record is not the best, the performances by Nix have been less than impressive. Nix has thrown for 2,275 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. Bo Nix is favored second to win Rookie of the Year, with Draft Kings giving him odds of positive 300.
While other players with increased odds include Arizona’s wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and the Oakland Raider’s star tight-end Brock Bowers, Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix are the only two players with relatively close chances at the award. Without any injury, we can confidently conclude that Jayden Daniels will win the 2024 Pepsi’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
