On February 17th, Seymour’s Mikey Wright signed to play collegiate baseball at the University of Indianapolis. Wright is a senior for the Seymour Owls.
Mikey Wright is now one of three collegiate signees for the Owls, alongside Braden Richey and Ty Nicholson. Braden Richey is signed to Anderson University, a D3 school in Indiana, and Ty Nicholson is signed to Brescia University, an NAIA school in Kentucky.
Wright had much to say about his decision to commit to the University of Indianapolis. He said, “The University of Indianapolis is in a great location for me, not too far away from home, not too close.” He also said, “I think it’s the perfect medium and Bret Perry (2024 Seymour graduate) is up there, so I’ve got connections and stuff.”
“They’re a great baseball program all-around.” The Greyhounds are in NCAA Division II and have been to the College World Series in that division twice in recent years.
Owls Coach Jeremy Richey said “I’ve been around the last 13-14 years and to see Mikey pitch when he was 9-10 years old, and you knew he was going to be really good as he got older, he keeps getting bigger and stronger. He threw some huge games for us. We expect him to have a tremendous year for us.”
High school baseball is one month away, and Seymour has high expectations this season.
Congratulations to Mikey Wright for signing with the University of Indianapolis.
Owls Will.
