Seymour High School’s band has grown immensely in the last few years, with over 225 students in the program. On February 8, 67 of the most talented members of the band participated in the ISSMA District Solo & Ensemble Contest in Columbus, Indiana. Of the 67 SHS band members, 62 achieved gold ratings for superior performance, and five more received silver for excellent performance.
A record number of students attended the state Solo & Ensemble Competition on March 1 in Indianapolis. 33 soloists and ensembles from SHS visited North Central High School to participate in the state competition. In addition, Joshua Rodriguez will continue Seymour’s streak of participating in the All-State Band. Joshua was selected as an alternate for the oboe section at the honorable performance in West Lafayette.
