Why do some believe that students shouldn’t learn about ancient civilizations when one of the most important topics that has shaped our world today is thanks to the ancient civilizations? Ancient civilizations have helped our world today. The Sumerians developed cuneiform; Egyptians created hieroglyphics, and the Phoenicians invented the alphabet that led to the one we use today. These and many more civilizations have helped develop words that we use today. Though they may have used their language, they have been translated into many different languages meaning these ancient civilizations have impacted the whole world.
During the Roman Empire, they fixed roads and made them perfect. They also reshaped aqueducts, and they used concrete for construction. These actions of the Romans still surprise archaeologists. Archaeologists say that they are very surprised because there have been many attacks on the Romans, though their structures were not damaged much. All these actions spread around the world and throughout the years they figured out many ways to use concrete. These actions of the Romans have helped a lot with our modern world today.
Ancient art, literature, and myths continue to inspire modern storytelling, theater, and visual arts. People wonder how authors get ideas that people don’t understand their origin. It is all thanks to the ancient civilizations. Ancient civilizations are known for their arts and what they believed in. These arts would show actions on what they did, and sometimes they would draw what they believed. For example, they drew their gods and how they were supposed to act. These arts give authors an idea on what they should write. Sometimes these arts, literatures, and myths helped shape movies/series. If it weren’t for ancient civilizations’ arts, then we wouldn’t have so many awesome movies/series, and for the book lovers, the next time you read another book and you are bored, do a little research and see where your author got the ideas.
