Our staff spent last weekend checking out this year’s Oktoberfest, and it definitely did not disappoint. From food to crafts to live music, there was plenty to do and see. Each of us tried different food and activities, and here are our honest opinions.
Bethany Kriete: Chocolate covered strawberries
The pairing of the sweet fruit and rich chocolate create a simple yet delicious dessert. The strawberries tasted fresh and were a nice pairing with the chocolate. I would definitely get them again.
Brady Terrell: Pork Burger Meal and Sweet Tea & Jesus
The pork burger was very simple yet very good. I had it with doritos and a Mountain Dew. It wasn’t anything special, but it was delicious. I also tried Sweet Tea & Jesus this year at Oktoberfest. I would recommend getting the cherry flavor. The wait was very long, but well worth it for the amazing taste!
Chase Koznarsky: Gyro Food Truck
The Gyro Food Truck at OctoberFest was amazing. Gyros typically contain lamb meat, pita bread, tomatoes, onions, and creamy tzatziki sauce. For people who don’t know what tzatziki sauce is, it is a creamy Greek dip, sauce, or spread made from strained yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil, and herbs such as dill. If you have never had a gyro, I completely recommend you to try one!
Kayelee Jackson: Sweet Tea & Jesus
Sweet tea is good no matter the temperature outside. I love the bible verse included on the side of the cup, it brings a smile to my face to read it! The booth has several different flavors you can add to your tea. The wait can be long but it’s totally worth the wait.
Diego Diego: Sweet Tea & mini steaks on the stick
I love to get sweet tea from Oktoberfest every year. I love the flavor! I also enjoy eating the mini bits of steak on a stick. I truly enjoyed the Oktoberfest this year, and hope everyone also had a good time. I can’t wait for next year’s Oktoberfest!
Lila Garrity: Apple Dumpling with Ice Cream
This was my first year trying the Apple Dumpling with Ice Cream. I absolutely loved it! I enjoyed the warm apple cinnamon combination paired with the cold vanilla ice cream. The ice cream is an extra cost, but I felt it add to the amazing taste. The taste and smell made it feel like fall in the warm weather. If you enjoy homemade apple pie, this is the dessert for you!
Dayton Smith: Tenderloin Sandwich
The tenderloin sandwich is a yearly staple of Oktoberfest, and it was better this year than previous years. I had it with an iced tea, and the classic giant sandwich combined well with the flavor of the tea. I would recommend the tenderloin for anyone who wants a fulfilling meal at Oktoberfest.
Jazz Cravens: JenJie’s Spud Shop
The Mexican street corn from JenJie’s was so delicious. It was a decent price with it only being $6.50. The portion was a good size especially for the price. The flavor was really good and not too spicy. I had to buy it a second time because it was so good. I hope JenJie’s Spud Shop will be at the Oktoberfest in 2026!
Jane Browning: Band concert
I love to come out to Oktoberfest on Thursday and play music for the attendees. The band runs through all of our music from the marching season to put on a great show for everyone. It’s an honor to kick off the beginning of the Oktoberfest!
