Boys Soccer Gets First Win of Season Against Brown County
August 29, 2019
Seymour’s boys soccer team traveled to Brown County on Thursday night and won their first game of the season convincingly, 8-0.
An own goal opened the scoring when senior Simon Akers sent a low cross into the box that bounced off of a Brown County defender and into the back of the net.
Akers quickly added another goal on a beautiful shot from 20 yards out. A second Brown County own goal made it 3-0 before Akers scored his second of the night off of an Alex Westfall cross.
Sophomore Tsubasa Kato added one more to Seymour’s goal tally just before halftime when he knocked in an Akers’ pass.
The second half was quiet until junior Isaac Schafer reentered the game with 20 minutes left, scoring an impressive 3 goals in 6 minutes. Schafer’s hat trick was perfect, meaning that he scored a goal with his left foot, his right foot, and his head.
JV scored 3 goals on 21 shots. Goals were scored by freshman Emilio Garcia, freshman Sammy Chandler, and sophomore William Cottrill.
