JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) mejor conocida como Career Exploration es una clase que es instruida por la Sra.Vázquez en la escuela secundaria de Seymour solo para estudiantes de 11vo grado (juniors)ye de 12vo grado (seniors). Esta clase le ayudará al estudiante a tener una mejor perspectiva de sus objetivos para sus estudios secundarios y postsecundarios.

Esta clase es parte de un programa de dos años e históricamente era solamente dado en Inglés. El año pasado la escuela decidió agregar una parte bilingüe la cual es instruida por la Sra. Vasquez. Esto le da a los estudiantes hispanos la oportunidad de tomar una clase que les ayudará en la preparación para la escuela y en su futuro por alguien con una buena perspectiva y entendimiento en su herencia. El programa JAG les ayudará a los estudiantes en distintas áreas que son requeridas en el desarrollo personal y profesional. Estas áreas comprenden destrezas en: liderazgo, trabajo en equipo, comunicación oral y escrita, creación de curriculum, procesos para tener una entrevista, destrezas para obtener un empleo y servicio de aprendizaje mediante el servicio comunitario.

De acuerdo con la Sra.Vázquez “Esta clase ayuda a los estudiantes a desarrollar las habilidades que actualmente son necesarias en el area de mano de obra o en campo que el estudiante decida estudiar. Esta clase no es una clase común para los estudiantes, ya que en esta clase los estudiantes tienen la oportunidad de expresarse y trabajar a su propio ritmo mientras aprenden y se divierten.”

De acuerdo con Angela Peña una estudiante de JAG “Lo que más me gusta de JAG es que no te das cuenta que estás haciendo trabajo allí.  Te prepara para la universidad y te preparan para ver el mundo real cuando termines la escuela secundaria. Sólo han pasado cuatro semanas y ya me gusta esta clase. Te hace sonreír y literalmente te  diviertes todo el tiempo.” Si algún estudiante desea unirse a esta clase debe ser recomendado por un maestro, consejero o uno de los estudiantes de JAG.

J.A.G. Jobs for America’s Graduates is a class at Seymour High School for juniors and seniors. This class helps students discover and transition to life after high school. The main goal is graduating.

This class is part of a two year program and historically was only delivered in English. Last year, the school decided to add the bilingual part that is taught by Mrs. Vázquez. This gives Hispanic students the opportunity to take a class that will help them in school readiness and in their future by someone with a good perspective and understanding of their heritage.

According to Mrs. Vasquez, “This class helps the student develop the skills that are needed today in the workforce or field that the student decides. This class is not a common class for students since they have the opportunity to express themselves, work in their own pace while learning and having fun.”

JAG teaches student many skills like employ-ability, resume creation, software, and communication. The class leads you through the experience of community service and many project based learning opportunities. The community service initiative this year too focused on bullying and suicide prevention. The JAG classes are working very hard to create an awareness in our community since is an issue we face daily among our youth.

According to Junior Angela Pena and JAG student, “What I like most about JAG is that you don’t realize you’re doing work in there. It prepares you for college, and they get you ready to see the real world when you graduate high school. It’s only been four weeks and I’m already liking this class. It makes you smile and literally laugh all the time at the same time that you learn.”

If you want to join this class you must  be recommended by a teacher, counselor, or one of the JAG students.
