Dear SHS…

Casey Regruth, Staff Writer

Dear SHS,

I have never had a greater love-hate relationship. You tick me off and stress me out daily, but for some reason, I have actually begun to miss you.

When it was announced that we would have two weeks of school off after spring break, I was ecstatic. In my head, I was already making plans for that time off, but soon everything changed. My family returned home early from spring break, and eventually, it became clear that we were going to be stuck in our homes. However, without the chaos of school and sports, I have had time to reflect on my first two years of high school.

Thank you, SHS, for the fantastic teachers that work in your building. Each and every one of them truly cares for their students and wants them to succeed. I have benefited greatly from them, learning many lessons that will continue to help me on my quest to be the best person I can be.

Thank you, SHS, for the athletic opportunities that you offer me. There is no better way to grow as a person than through athletics. Sports teach us to persevere, compete, and grow. Luckily, I have been blessed with great coaches and leaders that have enhanced my experiences and made my time as an Owl unforgettable.

Lastly, thank you, SHS, for allowing me to discover who I am. You have helped me find out the things that are important to me. It’s not always grades or winning that matters (although those things are important). Sometimes the most important things are the experiences and the people around you.

Sincerely,
Casey Regruth
