Seymour Scholars is an academic award where you would have to receive the Core 40 with Academic Honors diploma, minimum of 54 credits, and earn a minimum of 36 academic credits for English with 8 credits, Math with 8 credits, Science with 8 credits, Social Studies with 6 credits, and World Languages with 6 credits. You have to earn a minimum of 10 credits in Advanced Placement Courses with a grade no lower than a B, and earn a minimum G.P.A of 4.90 or higher for the 54 qualifying credits. The event took place on May 1st at The Pines. Each Scholar got to pick a teacher and sit down and have dinner with them. Eliana Baker is going to attend the Rose-Hulman Institute and chose Mrs. Lo Ferguson as her teacher. Rolando Baltazar Felipe is going to Indiana University and chose Mrs. Maria Hauersperger. Katie Deppen is attending Indiana University and chose Mr. Kevin Cottrill. Samantha Foster will be attending Purdue University and chose Mrs. Theresa Ragsdale. Hayley Harpe is attending Indiana University and chose Mr. Brandon Harpe. Millicent Hays is going to Xavier University and chose Mr. Erik Stangland. Samantha Jacobi will be attending Purdue University and chose Mr. Spencer Sunbury. Dylan Nguyen is attending Purdue University and chose Mr. Matt Dennis. Hiley Obermeyer is attending Auburn University and chose Mrs. Debra Carroll. John Polbito will be attending Indiana University and chose Mrs. Sheena Isaacs. Michael Proffer is going to Purdue University and chose Mr. Shane Fallis. Valeria Ramirez Herrera is attending Loyola University of Chicago and chose Mrs. Erica Kelly. Casey Regruth will be attending Purdue University and chose Mrs. Laura Cottrill. Alexis Turner will be going to Indiana University and chose Mrs. Daphne Waskom. Kaylee Waskom will be attending University of Alabama and chose Mr. Wayne Woodard. Eli Wood is going to Purdue University and chose Mrs. Ann Tormoehlen. Being a Seymour Scholar is a very huge honor and decision to make. It takes a long 4 years but once you achieve the honor it’s amazing.
