The Seymour Owls have surprised a lot of people this season after losing six seniors the year prior. After a 10-14 record last season, the Boys Seymour team has not disappointed this season. The Owls are 12-4 with 6 games remaining, including one HHC Conference game. If the Owls beat Floyd Central on 1/26, they clinch the HHC Conference for the first time since before any student at the High School was born.
Seymour is led by Juniors Brady Harpe and Jaylan Johnson, alongside Seniors Ethan Silcox and Bret Perry. And they are coached by Kirk Manns who has already won the IBCA Coach of the Year in 2022 and is looking to repeat in 2024. Coach Manns has changed Seymour Basketball for the better in the last few years because of his training regimen and the intensity he brings.
Seymour Basketball has never been this good in my entire lifetime, and I’m excited to see what the Owls can do in the postseason. I guarantee that if Seymour and Brownstown rematched, Seymour would win. Something has changed for the Owls since the start of the season, and this team is clicking on every level. Let’s get ready to support the Owls when they play Floyd Central on 1/26 @ Seymour.
This season is so historical that I can’t even find the last time Seymour has won the Hoosier Hills Conference, and recency bias is better anyway. This is history in the making; don’t miss it. Owls Will
