Grammys disrespect Travis Scott for the second time

In 2019 Travis Scott’s album ASTROWORLD, which was believed to be the best album by the rap community was nominated for Best Rap Album of the Year. Many people expected ASTROWORLD  to win the Grammy for Best Rap Album of the Year, but the Grammys ended up awarding it to Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy instead.  Travis not winning the Grammy is one of the biggest and clearest robberies to this day. Since then, Travis Scott hadn’t released an album until he released his 3-year-long-hyped album UTOPIA.

released on July 28th and became No.1 on the Billboard 200 album chart 14 days after it was released on August 12th. UTOPIA stayed on top of the billboard for four weeks, and was the first album in five years to spend its first 4 weeks at No.1! UTOPIA instantly became a fan favorite, as it was everything that Travis fans expected and waited three years for. UTOPIA was also the best-selling album of 2023 and has more than 1 billion streams on Spotify.

When the Grammys came around, everyone had UTOPIA as the favorite to win Best Rap Album of The Year.  History always repeats itself though, so for the second time, Travis Scott got robbed for Album of The Year. Killer Mike’s Michael ended up beating UTOPIA to win Album of The Year. The rap community was enraged by the results because UTOPIA was believed to be the better album.

Travis’s constant robbery proves that whoever wins the Grammys depends on the opinion of the people who pick the songs. Streams, popularity, sales, and all of those stats don’t matter. Even Travis Scott knows as he said while he was performing “Fein” at the Grammy’s: “They slept on me 10 times” referring to the 10 Grammy nominations he’s had in previous years with none resulting in a Grammy. Even Drake posted on his Instagram story calling the Grammys out to show his support for Travis. Killer Mike fans have come out to defend why Micheal deserved the Grammy, but even what they say doesn’t change the fact that Travis was so clearly robbed!
