Senior Alex Huckelberry is considered a man of many titles; a social butterfly, JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) president, and highly motivated. Huckelberry is closing in on the end of his Seymour High School experience. Huckelberry has attended SHS since his sophomore year, because he was home schooled for his freshman year. With an eccentric high school career coming to an end, he is having fun and putting in as much effort as possible.

¨My emotions (right now) consist of being kinda chillax and kinda nervous, but also nerve wracking,” Huckelberry says. He is a part of extra curricular classes and activities that are stressful but ¨worth it.¨ Clubs are what stress Huckelberry, but also destress him as well, this is an outlet for him. ¨A positive outlet is a productive outlet, and outlets help when you might be overwhelmed or stressed,¨ Huckelberry says. An outlet that tends to be his most common helping people who are in need.

Overall, he has been a part of 17 clubs and teams; counting both past and present. These clubs and teams include ¨Show Choir, FFA, JAG, and so (many) more,¨ He says. ¨I think that I´ll be most remembered for being a part of all of these different things I have joined. They’re great because it shows a sense of where you can belong. You meet so many new people. I’ve helped make and develop some of these clubs that are here today. These have been my favorite moments of high school.¨

JAG (Jobs for America’s graduates) is a class that can be taken at SHS for upperclassman. Huckelberry is the senior president of the elective. The goals of the class are to pursue and look more in depth on career opportunities. For Huckelberry, it has become more than an elective or class, this being due to JAG becoming a bigger part to his life. ¨This class means so much to me. It´s helped me with leadership development, along with helping me become a better person in general. It´s definitely a creative outlet for me.¨

Huckelberry´s biggest sources of inspiration are his two JAG teachers, Celeste Bowman and Belizabeth Vazquez. He claims, ¨They´ve helped me with everything from personal issues to educational. They encouraged me for the good to be both a leader and contribute to community services. They’re probably been the reason that I´ve been the president of at least four different classes.¨

Huckelberry does not think he will be remembered for being just a club member or leader, but for being friendly and determined. ¨I think that is what really makes me stand out as an individual. My determination to help other people isn’t common.  It’s really special to see people help each other, and I feel like I do that. My friendliness relates to that, like I get along with everyone. I’m more for everyone else, rather than I am for myself which is something that I´ll be remembered for and makes me stand out from the next senior,¨ Huckelberry remarks. ¨See it doesn’t take much to be a bad person, but it takes a lot to be a good one.¨

His plans after high school are to attend college, but is unsure of which one to attend with a variety of choices. His future plans are to become financially stable, get married, and become a foster parent. He plans to work in public relations or business since he plans on going to be a JAG teacher.
