New Teacher Spotlight Week 3

Mrs. Burgess

Mrs. Janice Gilles teaches all subject areas and emotional/behavioral support such as dealing with anxiety, conflict, and managing emotions at SHS. She came from Jennings County Middle school and has taught in the special services department in Jennings County Schools for 19 years. She has a four year old daughter named Grace. Mrs. Gilles enjoys music, reading, swimming, running, and attending live events. She said, “Getting to meet new people” is what she looks forward to this school year at SHS. When asked what opportunities she was looking for when she came to SHS she said, “I was looking for a change. I am excited to be an OWL!”

 

Mrs. Tapanga Burgess is a new Spanish I and II teacher at SHS. She is from Edinburg, Indiana, and this is her first year teaching. She graduated from Franklin College in May of 2019. Mrs. Burgess enjoys shopping, spending time with her family, and watching crime shows. She said, “Growing as a teacher and helping grow and improve the world language department” is what she is looking forward to this year. When asked what opportunities she was looking for when coming to SHS this year, she responded, “To teach, learn from professional development, and get involved with leading a club or coaching a team.”
