The first round of the Boys Soccer sectional is tonight, as teams from all around Indiana hope to begin their run to a state championship. Sectional 15, hosted by the Seymour Owls, is one of the state’s most competitive sectionals. It consists of mainly Hoosier Hills Conference schools. Columbus East, Columbus North, Floyd Central, Jeffersonville, Jennings County, New Albany, and Seymour will all be competing to get their hands on the coveted sectional trophy.

The first game of the sectional will be played on Monday, October 5 at 6 p.m., featuring the Seymour Owls (5-8-2) and the Floyd Central Highlanders (11-4-1).  In their regular season match-up, the Highlanders edged out a 1-0 win over the Owls, scoring midway through the second half. The winner will move on to play the Jeffersonville Red Devils (9-3) in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, the Jennings County Panthers (4-11-2) will take on the Columbus North Bulldogs (6-5-4). These two teams did not play during the regular season, but Columbus North, a sectional favorite, will be hoping to win handily and move on to the semifinals.

The New Albany Bulldogs (11-4-1) vs. the Columbus East Olympians (6-2-7) is the late game on Tuesday. During the regular season, these two teams played to a 1-1 draw. The Olympians, who have gone unbeaten over their last 6 games,  will look to continue their recent form, while the Bulldogs will attempt to win their 4th straight game.

The Jeffersonville Red Devils were favored by the sectional draw, receiving a first round bye.

Tickets are $6 and will be sold at the door.
