Sounds are everywhere around us. Everyday cars, music, and background noises are heard, but when does it ever stop? Does it impact the wildlife or environment? Indeed it does. It is unseen but is heard by everything. Decibel chart for common sounds | Pulsar Instruments

The way man made sounds disturb organisms such as birds, fish, and mammals. When these species attempt to communicate, a man made sound could imitate them and give misinformation about prey or predators. Birds may experience hearing damage, stress, and changes in response from man made sounds. “Most researchers agree that noise can effect an animal’s physiology and behavior, and if it becomes a chronic stress, noise can be injurious to an animal’s energy budget, reproductive success and long- term survival.” (https://www.nhsec.nh.gov) High noise levels around ocean life can, “reduce the ability of animals to communicate with potential mates, other group members, their offspring, or feeding partners.” (oceanservice.noaa.gov)

Effects of Noise Pollution from Ships on Marine LifeIn the environment, man made sounds interfere with breeding cycles and rearing and is even hastening the extinction of some species. Underwater mining, commercial vessels, and cities and more all contribute to the natural cycles organisms go through. In the future as society continues to advance more invention will be made, will these interfere with natures natural organisms and cycles?
