Are superstitions real?

Are superstitions real?

Many athletes believe that superstitions can affect how they play in a match of any sport. No matter how much time they put in a week at practice. A lucky sock or a certain bracelet can demolish that very quickly. Is it in our heads or does bad luck really exist?

For example, before every game or tournament, I must drink an energy drink 3 hours before the match starts. Energy drinks take 3 hours to peak, but taken into consideration that it has to be the same flavor and brand every single time, is it just a silly superstition?

In my opinion, if I really think about it, I practice many hours a week and for a silly drink or a lucky bracelet I have to ruin my games automatically. To me it sounds very childish, but I cope with it because that is when I perform my best. Maybe if I don’t think about any of the superstitions, I will still play well. However at the end of the day, it is in our head and a lot of athletes deal with it from time to time in their career.
