Seymour Boys Golf wins Jennings County Invite

Seymour Boys Golf wins Jennings County Invite

On Saturday, April 18th, the Seymour Owls won the Jennings County Invite with a score of 328. Seymour beat out teams like Madison (331) and Jennings County (335). This was a season low for the Owls in 18 holes, and it was a great time to have it. Let’s take a look at individual scores for the Owls.

Kirby Tormoehlen (Jr)- 42 – 41 / 83

Luke Baker (Sr)- 39 – 41 / 80

Jack Broughton (Sr)- 42 – 39 / 81

Trent Morris (Sr)- 48 – 41 / 89

Reece Tempest (Fr)- 39 – 45 / 84

The Owls were coming off a really tough week of golf, losing straight up to Madison and Franklin over their last two matches, but after Saturday, the Owls have all the confidence in the world.

Here’s what one of the players had to say about the tough conditions on Saturday. Senior Trent Morris said,  “It made the greens really slow, and it made the clubs hard to grip.” Those are two things that can completely change a round, but the Owls overcame those challenges.

When asked if he thought the team could stay hot and keep winning, Morris said, “Oh yeah, for sure, we got that fighting Owl spirit in us.”

This Seymour roster has been through a lot together, with four seniors preparing to play their last month of high school golf. Those seniors include Luke Baker, Jack Broughton, Trent Morris, and Brady Terrell (me).

After losing a few key pieces from last year’s roster, the Owls have reloaded and are looking better than ever. The players will decide how far this team can go, and there is no other team I would want to be a part of.

Let’s hope the Owls can keep it up over the last month of the season.

Owls Will.
