Last Pep For the Seniors

Last Pep For the Seniors

On February 16th the Seymour High school and Middle school played at the last pep band game of the school year. The Seymour High school band was already large, but adding the biggest 8th grade class the numbers climbed even higher this year. There was no room as all band members tried to squeeze into their spots in the gym and get ready to play their first song.

For the freshmen, sophomores and juniors they only have to wait until next season before they play again but the seniors have played their last concert in high school. Senior Tuba player Jacob Voss has been to 14 pep band games this school year and has enjoyed them all. He thought the game went well, considering how many band kids there were. Voss thought that it would be “sad playing for his last game,” but he still had a good time with all of his friends one more time.

Voss continued, “It was sad but great at the same time, but don’t get me wrong I will miss it.” As each pep band game came and went, it drew each senior closer and closer.

There are a lot of lasts for seniors in high school, especially for band students. Last band camp, last football game, last concert, last solo, last ensemble, last article, last essay. Seniors try to make the last one count and Voss did is best to go to all the pep band games and make them count. He came to concerts and football games. He participated in Solo and Ensemble with a solo and a quintet. Voss made the best of all the band events so far this year and there are more yet to come and he will be there for everyone one of them to support his fellow teammates.
