Senior, Californian native, and athlete Grace Timmons is set up to graduate from Seymour High School. With happy emotions, she braces for her final year of high school. As the 2017-2018 year pulls up, the days count down until she graduates.

Originally from Lancaster, California, Timmons moved from her home state to Indiana. ¨I spent two years of high school in California but came here for my third year of high school, which was my favorite year. I have been here ever since. California is my home; it´s where I grew up. I always think of my family. I have family there, here, (Indiana) and some extended all over, including Mississippi.” Her family has always been her biggest source of inspiration. Two relatives in specific are her dad and sister.¨My dad has nine children, some (of us) half sisters. It´s been hard for him, but he has always managed to get everything we need. My sister has been an inspiration because she has always acted as a role model to me; even when losing her husband and daughter, she has remained really strong and that has showed [how] me to become a better role model to others and to become a better person,” Timmons explains.

Timmons says, ¨I think what helped me were sports and my faith whenever I had moved here. Running helped me for some reason. I developed a passion for it when I got here, and to this day running and exercising still helps me. It helps me focus. It helps me forget my troubles that I might have for a short time. When I first moved here Seymour was like a whole other planet to me. It took a while for me to be comfortable, but after some time I really started to enjoy it here. Though Indiana is nice, I really miss my home, and that is the state of California.”

Timmons’ favorite part of high school was when she made varsity for the track team. She loved the happiness it brought her due to her fellow teammates and coaches. Timmons’ least favorite part of high school is that it’s ending.  Timmons is ¨sad that it’s over.¨ She mostly liked school as a whole, and does not hold any grudges or regrets ¨because you really learn from your mistakes.”

What makes her stand out and most likely to be remembered aside from being a former California resident is her personality. She explains, ¨What makes me stand out is my humor and personality; my funniness; my radical humor. I’ll probably be remembered by my  desire for helping others. I really enjoy helping others. It’s just what I do.” She is also technically the aunt of fellow SHS student Grace Beach.

Her plans after high school are to attend college. She envisioned several colleges such as Ivy Tech, IUPUC, Purdue, and others. She plans to go into a field that helps people and that is hands on. ¨I don’t really know if I will go to California for college. I sure do have a ton of options; it’s hard to pick.” Without set plans, Timmons is making the most she can out of her high school finale.
