The silence of the room, occasionally broken by the typing of keys and the scribbles of pencils on paper. A test with questions dating back to the start of the semester. Bunches of students taking the test at their own pace. Sweat drips down their face as they shake in fear and nervousness, waiting and trying to remember what they studied in the previous days leading up to this moment.
There are many ways to relax before a test. Some ways to deal with this stress include eating a healthy breakfast, getting enough sleep, taking deep breaths, and doing activities you enjoy. Studying sooner is also the best way to prepare for a final. Rather than procrastinating about the final, take action and study ahead of time.
Jakaih Young, a sophomore at Seymour High School, shares the most stressful part about taking and completing final exams.
“Trying to figure out what score you got on the final” is nerve-racking.
Being unaware of how you did on an important test can be very stressful, especially when your results are not shared with you for days after you take it.
He also deals with the stress from testing and studying by “listening to music.”
“Mentally preparing yourself” is the most important factor in reducing stress in Jakaih’s life.
Final exams are right around the corner for students at Seymour High School. If you aren’t taking any finals, remember to be respectful to your peers on final exam days. Good luck to everyone taking final exams!
