The WNBA season is slowly wrapping up and the race to be the 2024 Rookie of the Year is hot. The race has narrowed to two of the best in the league currently. Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, and Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky are the two frontrunners for 2024. The battle of these two is only continuous of their rivalry in college.
The Indiana Fever is currently 7th in the WNBA standings, and if they could keep that position, this would be the first time they have made the playoffs in 8 years. The Chicago Sky are 8th in standings and on the edge of missing the postseason.
To say these 2 have been revolutionary to the sport of women’s basketball would simply be an understatement. In just their rookie season, both have blasted through long-lasting records set by WNBA veterans. Clark was selected 1st in the 2024 draft and Reese 7th. These two lead the WNBA in jersey sales and numerous stats.
While each individual has alternating responses and opinions on their choice to win, the experts say Caitlin Clark has the highest odds. Supporters of Angel Reese claim it will not be Clark, as she has broken the turnover record this season, only 75% of the way through. However Clark supporters remind us that she averages 17.8, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game. Reese averages 13.6 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. While we can recognize that Reese is one of the best rebounders in the WNBA, we can also respect that Clark has plenty of significant stats.
