The Owls ended Senior Night with a bang, defeating the Madison Cubs by a final score of 5-0 on Thursday night. It was a great night for the Owls on and off the pitch. Their nine seniors were recognized for all their hard work and dedication to this team. The nine seniors included Lance Hubbard, Donovan Deigadillo, Kayden Cox, Juan Fernandez, Myles Chandler, Jake Loebker, David Bartolome, Thai Daraswad, and manager Daniel Diego.
Now, let’s get to the action. The game started slow, with both teams playing solid defense. After sophomore Bartolome Sebastian’s goal was called back due to him being offsides, he was determined to score. A few minutes after the offsides, Bartolome Sebastian hit a long shot over the goalie’s head to score the first goal of the game.
The score would remain 1-0 at half-time. Coach Dennis must’ve said something very inspirational at halftime because the Owls came out hot in the second half.
Senior Myles Chandler scored a goal early in the second half and celebrated with the student section. They didn’t have to wait much longer for another goal, while a few minutes later, senior Myles Chandler would score his second goal of the game to make the score 3-0.
With about 10 minutes left in the game, junior Marckenson Paul raced down the field and hit a perfect ball into the back of the net. This was Paul’s seventh goal of the season and would make the score 4-0.
This game was over, but with about three minutes left, senior Kayden Cox would score a goal to give the Owls a 5-0 lead.
The crowd knew the game was over when Coach Dennis subbed in the backup goalie Jonathan Scott for senior Lance Hubbard.
This senior class has had a huge impact on Seymour soccer, including a winning record in three out of the four years they have played for the Owls, including this year.
After this win, the Owls move to 7-5 on the season.
The Owls play the Lawrenceburg Tigers on Saturday, Sep 21 @ Lawrenceburg. Their next home game is on Thursday, Sep 26 against Jennings County.
