Must See: Roberts Tree Farm

Cheyenne Douglass, Staff Writer

“At Roberts Tree Farm, children can see Santa, chose their own live tree, shop in the gift shop, eat homemade cookies and even take a free hayride” says Jerry Roberts, owner of the tree farm. Once you have picked that special tree, the employees of Roberts Tree Farm will even shake your new handpicked tree, wrap your tree, and tie it to your car for you.

Roberts Tree Farm is located at 9977 North County Road, Seymour, Indiana. From 1929-1942 this place was a general store for WWII. Roberts Tree Farm became a tree farm in 1952. On a normal day, this tree farm sees 75 to 100 people a day when they are open from Thanksgiving to the Saturday before Christmas. The farm is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 in the morning until it becomes dark. They decided to start a tree farm because they thought there wasn’t much enjoyment in getting a fake tree. The Roberts started the farm so others can start a tradition with their families and have a magical Christmas with a real tree.

“I have been coming to this farm for eight years, it has been a tradition so that the kids can see Santa and have fun picking their own tree,” says Cathy Cutsinger, a visitor of Roberts Tree Farm. There are several families who visit this tree farm as a family tradition. Families from all over Seymour and surrounding areas come to visit Santa and pick out their own special tree. So come on down to Roberts Tree Farm and pick out your own special tree for this Christmas! Even sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what you want for Christmas and maybe you’ll find your special gift under the tree.
