A massive snowstorm is set to hit large parts of the U.S. this weekend. The National Service issued a Winter Storm Watch. The snowstorm nicknamed Fern started taking form in the southwest. Indiana is expected to be hit during the weekend of January 24-25. Winter storm watches have already been issued across many counties in central and southern Indiana, including the following counties: Jackson County, Bartholomew County, Clark County, and Floyd County. The snowstorm is expected to hit Saturday morning, January 24, and remain through Monday morning, January 26.
Southern Indiana expects 8 inches of snow, while some parts are expected to have 12 inches of snow. Central Indiana, including Indianapolis, is currently expected to experience 4-7 inches of snow. Snow is expected to hit on Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will plummet Friday and Saturday to reach around 5-15 degrees across the state. While air temperatures will sit between 5 and 15 degrees, wind chills are expected to drop as low as -15 to -25 degrees. Remember to stay safe and be extremely careful when driving through the weekend. It is advised not to travel when not needed. These weather conditions are extremely dangerous.
