The Seymour Owl Athlete of the Week is Lady Owls basketball guard Aidan Hiester.

Brandon Terrell– How were you able to perform to your potential this week?

Aidan Hiester–  “Leading up to this week, every game and every practice I give 100% effort. No matter how hard practice or games get, the ability to fight through the fatigue and failure is what helps me to perform to my full potential everyday.”

Brandon Terrell – How did it feel to beat Brownstown?

Aidan Hiester – “Beating Brownstown was a confidence booster for the team. The unexpected loss last year left our team and coaches with a new mindset this year. We knew going into the game we were going to have to fight for 32 minutes. Pulling off a win in overtime is always a challenge; however, the feeling after we won is unforgettable.”

Brandon Terrell – How do you bounce back after a tough loss like Thursday night.

Aidan Hiester – After losing to BNL on Thursday night it takes grit and toughness to bounce back. As a team we have to learn how to play for the full 32 minutes in a game and that comes with practicing ourselves into shape. Our team has the ability to bounce back after tough loses, we just have to dig deep and stay mentally tough. Mental toughness in basketball (and almost every other sport) is the key to bouncing back and winning championships.

Hiester and the Lady Owls will play again at Madison on Saturday.
