The Seymour Baseball Varsity team played their season opener against Trinity Lutheran at Alf Snyder Field on Thursday night. The Owls started out scoring three runs in the 1st to take a 3-0 lead. After Junior Braden Christopher threw three strikeouts to get the Owls back to the plate. With two outs and nobody on, Senior R.J. Kleber reached second on a double and gave the Owls some motivation. Senior Takumi Nishiwaki drove in Kleber with a two out double. Nishiwaki proceeded to steal second base and would reach home off the bat of Matthew Moore. Moore would also reach home on error by the left fielder hit by Devin Hill. Hill would also come up strong with a home run in the 4th to give the Owls an 8-1 lead. The score would remain 8-1 for the course of the game. It was a strong showing for the Owls. They followed up that game with an upsetting 9-3 defeat to Brownstown on Tuesday night. They are looking to bounce back Thursday night at home against Columbus East.
