Seymour boys soccer’s home game last Thursday night ended in defeat against Bloomington North. The Cougars scored two late goals, converting a competitive match into a convincing 3-0 win.

An experienced Bloomington North side recorded their second consecutive win against the Owls.

The first half of the game remained at 0-0, although each side had opportunities. Freshman Will Smith faced 10 shots in the first half, and he made a couple of magnificent saves to keep the score tied. Senior Simon Akers and junior Carter Hendrix had shots denied by Bloomington North’s junior captain Austin Himebaugh.

The beginning of the second half was more of the same until junior Ian Holtz-Hazeltine slid the ball into the far corner of the goal off of a cross by senior Kaan Silay. The second goal was scored by Silay, and sophomore Kyle Trilling scored the third for the Cougars.

Seymour worked hard to equalize, but were unable to draw level.

The Owls’ (1-3-1) next game is against Jeffersonville on September 3rd.
