Geese are currently taking over the rock world and amassing tons of fans in the indie scenes of social media, but who are they? And why should the average person care? Geese’s album “Getting Killed” peaked at #1 in the UK Independent Albums chart, and #14 in the Billboard Independent Albums chart, proving to be quite the hot commodity. Of course, none of this would have probably happened without the overnight success of singer/guitarist Cameron Winter’s solo career. 

Geese’s story starts all the way back in high school, where they met and learned how to play their respective instruments. This young energy resulted in two records, one of which has been removed from streaming, “A Beautiful Memory” and “Projector.” These records don’t really represent the current state of the band so we will gloss over them. More importantly in their back catalog though is the release, “3D Country.”

“3D Country” comes before “Getting Killed” in their discography and also musically. It very much has some of the same characteristics of their latest release. Many of its tracks are very jam-focused with psychedelic exploration. Tracks like ‘Undoer’ and ‘Gravity Blues’ show that ’60s experimentation period influence while ‘I see myself’ shows what to come on “Getting Killed.”

September 26, 2025 could be seen as the day the revival of indie rock begins. Getting Killed officially releases on Partisan Records as well as PIAS recordings. This shows a deliberate shift from their previous albums. Producer Kenny Beats pulls the best out of Geese, editing takes from 30 minute jam sessions to turn into fully fleshed out songs. Every rhythm on the album feels hypnotic, pulling you in and out before the final climax of the song. I love how forceful the drum and bass are on the record, every hit feels like another blast in the face, everything just culminates into a new type of shot into the mainstream

If Geese can keep this up, they’re at a good shot to reclaim rock and roll back for the mainstream, hopefully inspiring many other bands to give their best shot.
