Without a doubt, Americans recognize the names Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison. But did you know they did not invent the telephone or the lightbulb without help? Watch the linked video to learn about Lewis Latimer, the man who helped invent the telephone and lightbulb. Born to formerly enslaved parents, Lewis Latimer drew Bell’s telephone plans and later advised Edison on inventing the light bulb.

It is important to know that he was in the room where it happened. Let’s add his name to the history books.
