Without a doubt, Americans recognize the names Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison. But did you know they did not invent the telephone or the lightbulb without help? Born to formerly enslaved parents, Lewis Latimer drew Bell’s telephone plans and later advised Edison on inventing the light bulb.
